Seam was created with the idea that the coffee trade should be different. Founded by David Walstra in 2017, Seam began as part of a cafe and co-working space in Fourways, Johannesburg.  The roastery was initially behind the scenes of the bustling cafe and steadily gained a life of its own until it had outgrown the space it occupied within the cafe. The natural transition was then for Seam to relocate and be separated from the initial cafe, and this allowed David and his team the opportunity to focus all their energy into sourcing and roasting coffee and supplying and supporting their customers. 

Their outlook on coffee is carefully considered, instead of looking at coffee as a lifeless commodity, they see coffee as the livelihoods that the crop underpins, considering every pair of hands that have made the cups we consume possible. One of their core beliefs as a business is that; if coffee can create community where it is consumed, it should build communities where it is grown.
