NOW Coffee was founded in 2020, right in the thick of lockdown. What began as a dream to open a local caf̩ quickly adapted to the moment, launching with a Drive-Through in Glenashley while waiting for their first caf̩ doors to open. Since then, the brand has grown steadily, expanding to include a second caf̩ in Umhlanga, several more Drive-Throughs, and a Roastery Рan essential part of the long-term vision from the start.
By being involved across the coffee value chain, NOW Coffee aims to make a real impact, not just in how coffee is served, but in how it’s sourced, roasted, and shared. Their approach is rooted in doing good where they can, uplifting those who deserve it, and focusing on quality at every stage.
The goal? To leave the coffee industry and the way people experience it a little better than they found it.
Pascal’s journey into coffee began like many others: as a passionate home barista with a growing curiosity about the roasting process. What started as an interest quickly turned into a hands-on pursuit, and he taught himself to roast through countless hours of research, experimentation, and the occasional YouTube deep dive.
Rather than following a traditional route, Pascal’s approach has been shaped by informal mentorships and friendships within the coffee industry, learning directly from those around him. With four years in the industry and two years behind the roaster, his personal taste and perspective are now woven into every batch roasted at NOW Coffee. His influence plays a key role in shaping the flavour profiles the brand has become known for.
